ABOUT THE PROJECT
(in)Visible is a new experimental ensemble work by Jess Curtis/Gravity delving into the intersections of movement, culture, sensory difference, and physical diversity in live performance. (in)Visible will address the disproportionate prevalence of sight in our culture and decentralize vision as the primary mode of experiencing body-based performance—exploring diverse modes of perceiving.
Focusing particularly on people with visual impairment’s access to live performance, the (in)Visible team will include noted blind author and access activist Georgina Kleege, author/philosopher of perception Alva Noë and a cast of five dancer/performers with and without visual impairments. The project is being developed in partnership with San Francisco’s LightHouse for the Blind and will enjoy a rolling world premiere in San Francisco and Berlin in 2019 and will subsequently tour the US and Europe.
