Kamyar Atabai (he/him)

Director of Development 

Born in Iran, Kamyar is a graduate of Columbia University (BA), and the Yale School of Drama (MFA). As a theater director, he has worked on both sides of the Atlantic, from the West End and Broadway to the London Fringe and Off-Off Broadway. As a Development professional, he has worked at Baryshnikov Arts Center, National Council of Jewish Women, and The Paley Center for Media.

David Blasher (he/him)

Consulting Operations Manager, SPA Program

David is a leader across legal and artistic settings in corporate and nonprofit organizations, where he helps teams translate mission-driven strategy into tactical application. Most recently at NBCUniversal, David was the Director of Global Legal Operations and Innovation, where he managed and developed initiatives to improve connectivity and effectiveness across the legal departments of all NBCUniversal business units. Prior to NBCU, David worked in legal technology and as a litigation associate at Davis Wright Tremaine, including pro bono work for the ACLU and OutsideIn homeless shelter serving LGBTQ+ Youth. Additionally, David is the Board Chair for Drama Club, a nonprofit that transforms the lives of young people in NYC who are incarcerated or court-involved, using improvisational theater and positive mentorship. With imagination and ensemble, Drama Club creates a stage for young people to share their voices and enjoy the power of play. For fun, David plays the cello with a rock band, and he relishes any chance to use musical & theatrical metaphors to illustrate an idea. Moira Brennan (she/her)

Executive Director

Moira strives to bring the dual lenses of justice and care to cultivating the field of contemporary live performance, on behalf of the many extraordinary individuals who dwell there, including artists, producers, supporters and audience members. She is especially interested in cross-organizational collaborations and coalition building within the arts sector and with non-arts, justice-driven sister entities. Moira is the former chair of the board of Movement Research, and has written for a variety of publications on the complex interplay of art, power and money. She is a graduate of New York University Tisch School of the Arts.

Maya Quetzali Gonzalez (she/her)

Program Associate

Prior to joining MAP, Maya interned at the Public Theater, working in the Production Department and with the Public Shakespeare Initiative. As a director, she has worked with the Eugene O’Neill National Music Theater Conference, the Nuyorican Poets Cafe, and Dallas Theater Center. She serves on the merger committee for IndieSpace and Indie Theater Fund, and has served as a reviewer/panelist for Barrington Stage Company, the Bronx Council on the Arts, Egg & Spoon, and Page 73. She is also an organizer for the Sunrise Movement, a volunteer with Jane’s Due Process. Maya is a 2020 Magna Cum Laude graduate of New York University Tisch School of the Arts, where she was a Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholar.

Sarah Mostov (she/her)

Administrative Coordinator

Sarah is an opera singer, producer and arts administrator who found New York in 2009, carving out a niche for herself in the gritty-yet-glamorous community of alternative performance art. She is a performer and producer in clubs, bars, and back rooms of the NYC underground, combining the beauty of classical operatic performance with the excitement of modern burlesque and comedy. She created OPEROTICA, a variety show that puts a spin on traditional opera singing, sharing it as a diverse modern, and subversive art form. Sarah has worked for numerous arts organizations, including Asylum Arts, Columbia Artists Management, the Metropolitan Opera, among others. In addition to her role at The MAP Fund, Sarah currently works as the Company Manager at Opera on Tap, whose mission is to promote opera as a progressive art form and to support developing artists who work in that field. Sarah currently resides in Brooklyn with her husband, her two charming but mischievous cats, and her adorable bulldog, Duncan.

Ron Ragin (he/him)

Consulting Director, SPA Program

Ron is a researcher, strategist, organizer, and interdisciplinary artist. He partners with artists, organizations, and grantmaking institutions to help them move in deeper alignment with their values, goals, and principles — toward that ever-shifting space of liberation. Ron worked in the field of (arts and cultural) philanthropy for nearly a decade, with program officer posts at the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation and the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. He also worked as a Senior Research Analyst at the Center for Effective Philanthropy. Alongside his research and strategy work, Ron sustains a vibrant performance and creative writing practice, rooted in music of the African Diaspora, improvisation, liberation aesthetics, and the development and maintenance of spiritual technologies. His artistic work centers around the role of sound, and the unamplified human voice in particular, in transforming our environment, our selves, and each other. Ron lives in New Orleans, makes a mean red velvet cake, and can throw down on some biscuits.

Kim Savarino (she/her)

Development Manager

Kim supports MAP’s development and growth, contributing research to build a program that centers equity and transparency. She has worked with organizations including Arts Action Research, Dance/NYC, and DDCF, and formerly served as co-chair of Dance/NYC’s Junior Committee. Kim is a performer, choreographer, and proud company member with Third Rail Projects and La MaMa’s Great Jones Rep. Recent artistic projects include a Broadway lab choreographed by Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker, an Italian “spectacle” directed by Romeo Castellucci, and playing the prophetess Cassandra in Andrei Serban’s revival of The Trojan Women. She has choreographed performance works in spaces ranging from traditional stages to concrete backlots, and her work has received support from MANCC’s Forward Dialogues Lab, the EstroGenius Festival, and the WV Dance Festival. Kim studied dance at Florida State University and the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, and grew up in West Virginia.

Lauren Slone (she/her)

Director of Grants and Research

Lauren is an internationally recognized leader in grant making systems design, cultural equity strategy, and programmatic innovation. To date at the MAP Fund, she has overseen the distribution of $10M+ dollars to 502 multidisciplinary performance projects. Most recently, she served on teams that operationalized Artist Relief, was appointed to GIA’s Individual Artists Support Committee, and was invited to join a global funder forum on decolonization practices. She’s also served as a nominator and panelist for resource opportunities, and regularly consults on effective decision-making processes. As a lifelong student of dance, she has created education curricula, youth mentorship programs, presentation platforms, and performance projects that democratize access to arts and culture. She holds a B.A. in Religious Studies with a minor in Philosophy from WVU, and an M.F.A. in Dance Performance and Choreography from FSU School of Dance where she was the first Andrew W. Mellon Arts Administration Fellow at MANCC.

Moira Brennan is the Executive Director of the MAP Fund.

Adriana Gallego is the Executive Director of the Arts Foundation for Tucson and Southern Arizona (AFTSA). Prior to joining AFTSA, Gallego was the first Chief Operating Officer of the National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures, and Director of Strategic Initiatives with the Arizona Commission on the Arts.

Craig Peterson is the Executive Artistic Director of Abrons Arts Center. Previously he was the Director of Programs at Gibney Dance, a multi-faceted center for dance and performance development, training, and presentation in New York City.  From 2009 – 2013, Peterson was the Director and Producer of the annual Philly Fringe Festival, a three-week city-wide festival featuring the work of more than 200 performing artists and companies. During this time he also launched and directed the Live Arts Brewery (LAB), a research and development program supporting long-term residencies and engagement activities for local and national artists. For ten years he served on the staff of Dance Theater Workshop, one of America’s preeminent contemporary performing arts institutions based in NYC.  For four years he served as the organization’s Co-Artistic Director.

Reuben Tomás Roqueñi (Yaqui/Mayo/Chicanx)  is currently Director of Transformative Change Programs at Native Arts and Cultures Foundation. Previously, Reuben was Program Officer in the Performing Arts Program at the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation in the San Francisco Bay Area and served as Grants Program Director at the Arts Foundation for Tucson and Southern Arizona.

Sixto Wagan is the inaugural director for the Center for Arts Leadership at the University of Houston.  Previously he led the contemporary art center DiverseWorks, serving in a multitude of capacities including Artistic Director, Co-Executive Director and Performing Arts Curator. He served on the Center for Houston’s Future Policy Committee for the 2014 Indicator Report on Arts and Cultural Heritage and is currently on the Culture and Tourism committee for the Greater Houston Partnership.

Meital Waibsnaider is General Counsel at Blue State, a digital strategy and technology firm. Previously, she was Senior Counsel at Kennedy Berg LLP, a commercial litigation firm based in Manhattan, worked in the General Counsel’s office at the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, and was a dancer with the Israel Ballet.
